Public Health Nurse

The position is a temporary assignment as a public health nurse in the infant and maternity health clinic (neuvolatoiminta) in Lappeenranta. The Health and Welfare District’s team is spread across the region but works as a tight unit. The unit focuses on health promotion and works within a multidisciplinary team with expectant mothers, children and their families. The role is autonomous, diverse and meaningful, including responsibilities in preventive and family planning clinic tasks. We offer supportive supervision and a comprehensive orientation tailored to the nurse’s needs, as well as a skilled colleague network for easy consultation. The work is independent but not solitary, with opportunities to develop the unit’s operations together with the team. You will work independently in outpatient settings and plan your own work. You will collaborate across organizational boundaries as part of a multidisciplinary team. Preferred experience in maternal and child health nursing and in family planning/is family planning clinic work. Proficiency in English is a valued asset. The required qualification is a licensed public health nurse degree. The role requires vaccination protection under the Communicable Diseases Act, Section 48. A health safety questionnaire is used in the welfare region and is completed by all those entering patient work or patient training. A criminal record extract per the Act on Background Check for those working with children (504/2002) must be presented. A 6-month trial period applies.
