Structural Analyst
Senior structural analyst for heavy vehicles; requires 5+ years’ experience and fatigue-analysis expertise.
Patria is a workplace where you help build shared security. At Patria, ordinary people solve extraordinary challenges. When it comes to critical operations on land, at sea, in the air and online, expertise matters. Quality is created by people—by every one of us. At Patria, you make a difference. Patria is an international defence industry and technology company with more than 100 years of experience in the field. With Patria’s top expertise and its Protected Mobility, Defence and Weapon Systems and Sustainment Solutions business areas, we ensure reliable operations for our customers and act as a partner in critical operations on land, at sea and in the air—when everything has to work. Patria operates in Finland, Sweden, Norway, Latvia, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, Poland, Slovakia and Japan. Protected Mobility is responsible for the sales, offering and delivery of new vehicles and vehicle systems. We are well equipped to offer our vehicle fleets to different end users through European programmes such as the Common Armored Vehicle System (CAVS) programme. We are now looking for a Structural Analyst to join our team and develop and ensure the durability of demanding vehicle structures throughout their lifecycle. In this role, you will work with a wide range of structural and fatigue analyses and help ensure that products meet their safety, quality and performance requirements even in the most challenging operating conditions. You will work closely with design, product development, testing and other technical experts. The role combines in-depth analysis, practical measurement work and active participation in product development. You will be able to influence structural solutions from the early design stages and support projects as an expert throughout the development process. A key part of your work will be carrying out strength and fatigue analyses of vehicle bodies, chassis and other structures. You will prepare FE models, run simulations and analyse the results, ensuring their reliability also through hand calculations. You will use measured loads in fatigue assessments, participate in test planning and validate calculation results using measurement and test data. In addition, you will assess structural solutions, identify development opportunities and actively propose ways to improve structural performance and durability. What kind of professional are we looking for? We are looking for an experienced and analytical strength-analysis professional with strong expertise in structural strength and fatigue design and the ability to combine computational methods with practical design and testing needs. You enjoy a technically demanding environment, work systematically and can clearly justify your conclusions to different stakeholders. We expect you to have: • A suitable Master of Science in Technology or equivalent degree, for example in mechanical or civil engineering • At least five years of experience in structural strength analysis • Experience with heavy vehicles such as trucks, work machines or military vehicles • The ability to verify calculation results using hand calculations as well • Strong expertise in fatigue design, for example IIW, S-N, strain-life and 4R, and in the design of welded structures • Experience with measurements, especially the planning, execution and analysis of strain-gauge measurements • Strong expertise in Siemens analysis environments (NX, Simcenter and Femap) • Good problem-solving and analytical skills and the ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary expert network • Fluent Finnish and good spoken and written English The following are also considered an advantage: • Experience with explicit dynamics, such as analyses of impact, crash and blast loads (for example LS-DYNA, Radioss or Abaqus/Explicit) • Experience directing subcontractors and assessing their analysis work • Python or another programming language for automating analysis processes • Basic understanding of CFD analysis • Experience working at the interface of analysis, testing and product development What we offer At Patria, you can work on things you would not even get to see elsewhere. You will have the opportunity for a long and varied career with Patria’s unique products and operations. You will join our friendly team of experienced professionals. We offer employee benefits including an annual performance bonus model, lunch and recreation benefits, and support for work-related studies. We provide comprehensive occupational health services, including specialist services. We also offer employees leisure-time accident insurance. We value your free time too, so you can balance work and life flexibly, for example by using flexitime.
