Do you want to help with specimen handling and developing the laboratory? Welcome to the role of a nurse assistant in HUSLAB’s specimen reception unit in Meilahti. HUS Diagnostiikkakeskus is Finland’s leading provider of clinical laboratory and imaging services. Our main activity focuses on the specialized care of the HUS consortium and the basic health care of welfare areas belonging to HUS. We also handle laboratory and imaging activities for Kymenlaakso and South Karelia welfare regions. We operate in eight medical specialties and are nationally responsible for several demanding studies as well as the research and teaching connected to the university hospital. Diagnostic studies play a central role in confirming diseases, ruling out conditions, and as part of treatment, monitoring and screening. At HUS Diagnostiikkakeskus there are about 3400 laboratory and imaging professionals across more than 150 sites. We are seeking a nurse assistant for a fixed-term position in the specimen reception of the HUSLAB house. The fixed-term role is a maternity leave substitution, running from 28 September 2026 to 2 July 2027. As a nurse assistant in the specimen reception you will play a central role as part of the team that handles about 35,000 specimens daily. Your tasks include specimen reception, unloading, logging and centrifugation; handling laboratory requests in the information system; dispatching specimens to domestic and international subcontract laboratories and to internal units within HUS Diagnostiikkakeskus; collaborating with care units; and participating in morning sampling on ward units at Meilahti and Siltasairaala. What we expect from you: a nurse assistant or practical nurse qualification; experience in venipuncture and sample logistics is a plus; strong communication and teamwork skills; initiative, flexibility and organizational ability; good Finnish oral and written skills; English skills are a plus.
