Café Manager

About the workplace: Lahti Central Hospital café The position is full-time and permanent. The salary is €2,400–€2,800 per month, based on your experience and education. Your working hours are generally on weekdays between 7:00 and 17:00. The café serves Monday–Friday 7:30–18:15, Saturday 10:30–16:00 and Sunday 11:30–17:00. The work starts on 1 December 2026; the restaurant agreement begins on 1 January 2027. The workplace is smoke-free. A great team is waiting for you. We are looking for a capable supervisor for our energetic eight-person team. Every day we serve buffet salad lunch and café products to hospital staff, visitors and patients. We also provide catering for events by order. Our skilled team works with a positive attitude and room for humour, without compromising on quality. You will be responsible for café operations together with your skilled team. You will finish and serve café products, set out the salad lunch, prepare and serve event catering reliably and to a high standard, and welcome customers with a smile. Make the team greater than the sum of its parts. Together with your manager, you will be responsible for the café’s profitable operation, customer collaboration and delivery of the agreement. In daily work you will be a hands-on leader for your staff and the face of our service to customers. You are comfortable organizing daily work and using systems. Leading your team is also an important part of the role. You will take responsibility for your team’s well-being and safety and lead them independently, supported by your team and manager. Your duties include: - Shift scheduling - Staff management, including recruitment, onboarding and supporting well-being at work - Stock management and purchasing, including placing orders, monitoring waste and taking inventory - Handling requests for quotations, active sales, pricing, planning and implementation - Handling feedback and improving the customer experience - Developing sales and operations together with your manager - Reporting and cost control - Ensuring quality, hygiene and safety - Taking part in operational work, including replenishing vending machines To thrive in this role, you have suitable education in the field and a flexible attitude to learning. Previous experience in a hospital environment, familiarity with vending machines, and work experience in a café or lunch restaurant are considered advantages. Experience in data-based product-range planning and development for cafés and vending sales is a major plus. You have excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, a flexible and positive attitude, and strong organizational ability. You are comfortable getting involved in practical work, know how to use systems and have sufficient IT skills. You communicate fluently in Finnish and, when needed, in English. Find your team.
