About the role

The Finnish Glass Museum is the national museum for the glass industry, housed in the former Riihimäki Glass factory building as part of Tapio Wirkkala’s holistic work of art. The museum was shortlisted for the 2026 Museum of the Year award, reflecting our long-term development work and ambitious approach to museology. Our future museum assistant is someone who enjoys interacting with visitors and the diverse nature of museum work. The role involves work in collections and public duties, including archiving and library material management, information and customer service, and tasks related to making the collections accessible. The work is performed under the guidance of the curator. As content expert, the museum assistant also acts as a full-time guide, providing multilingual tours of the main exhibition and rotating exhibitions for visitors of different ages. The museum assistant also has permanent shifts in customer service. The job includes evening and weekend work. Successful performance requires experience in customer service and cash handling, an independent work style, organization, flexibility, and teamwork. Prior museum work experience, multilingual guiding, and an interest in design are required. Our guiding languages are Finnish, Swedish and English. Other languages are considered an asset. A relevant university degree is required.
