About the role

Lead UPS Hardware Engineer role at Eaton in Vantaa, Finland. The successful candidate will be a senior technical expert within Eaton's UPS product development organization, owning challenging power electronics development tasks, contributing to new product development projects, and solving demanding technical challenges across the organization. The role is not a traditional people management position; instead, the engineer will act as a trusted technical leader and mentor, supporting other hardware engineers through design reviews, problem solving, coaching, and sharing best practices. The person will report to the Engineering Manager and collaborate with Eaton's hardware engineering community in Finland and globally. Key responsibilities include leading hardware design activities for advanced UPS and power electronics products, acting as a subject matter expert, supporting projects from concept to launch, performing analysis and root cause investigations, reviewing hardware designs, mentoring colleagues, contributing to technology development, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams. What we expect: M.Sc in Electrical Engineering or related field; at least 8 years of experience in electronics or electrical product development; strong expertise in power electronics; UPS experience is beneficial; strong understanding of hardware architecture, thermal management, and system-level design; excellent communication and collaboration skills; fluent English. Responsibilities

  • Lead hardware design activities for advanced UPS and power electronics products
  • Act as a subject matter expert in power electronics hardware architecture, component selection, circuit design, and hardware integration
  • Support new product development projects from concept phase through product launch
  • Perform technical analysis, troubleshooting, root cause investigations, and problem resolution for complex engineering challenges
  • Review and validate hardware designs and provide technical guidance to other engineers
  • Mentor and coach less experienced engineers within the team
  • Contribute to technology development, innovation activities, and future product roadmaps
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary and global teams across R&D and product organizations

Requirements

  • M.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • At least 8 years of experience in electronics or electrical product development
  • Strong expertise in power electronics
  • Experience with UPS products or similar power conversion technologies (beneficial)
  • Strong understanding of hardware architecture, thermal management, and system-level design
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Fluent English
