We are seeking a youth worker for the Vuosaaren youth work to guide young people with attention to families, intimate relationships, neighbourhoods and communities influencing youth growth. The role aims to improve accessibility and inclusivity of youth work and to build trust between youths, youth work and communities. The task is a new kind of role in youth work; we want to develop youth work by approaching youths and the area families. You will invite families and communities to dialog with youths, us and each other, invite youths and families to activities and enable positive encounters. You will work with professionals in the area and with young people participating in preparatory education. You will work closely with youth club communities and in various environments in our neighbourhood. We support success in the role. We have a development‑minded and youth‑oriented team. We already have close relationships with many youths and communities and good partners. There is a lot of work, but it is meaningful, and usually also succeeds. The work is anchored in youths’ free time, so it is done regularly in evenings, weekends and holiday times. The qualification requirement is a suitable university degree, such as a community pedagogue or social worker. We require experience in youth work, and written and spoken Finnish. Successful performance requires dialogic interaction skills (training is provided) and above all a willingness to develop and reflect on your own interaction skills. We expect an open and bold approach to meeting youths, parents, communities and partners. In addition, success requires initiative and the ability to lead one’s own work. If helpful, we value language skills such as English, Arabic, Russian and Somali. We value understanding of inclusion and integration, experience in community‑based educational work and experience working in multicultural work environments. Job interviews will be held on Wednesday 16.9.2026 between 13–17 in person at Kallahden nuorisotalo, Pohjavedenkatu 5 Helsinki.
