This project is funded by the Finnish National Agency for Education to develop Finnish as a second language and literature teaching (the Raisio basic education S2 track). The project creates a city-level model for S2 teaching structures, milestones, assessment, and multilingual parent cooperation. The aim is language equality, standardization of practices, and support for school staff in linguistically aware instruction. As an S2 coordinator / project worker you will act as an expert, mentor and network facilitator. The workplace is Raisio City Hall, but the role involves moving between Raisio schools and practical development work supporting everyday teaching. Your main tasks include: developing and rolling out the operating model and criteria for content selection; leading and coordinating school-specific S2 teacher networks; planning and implementing continuing education, workshops and model teaching in collaboration with Turku city; preparing language-aware teaching toolkits, assessment checkpoints, multilingual information material for parents and an orientation online course; collaboration and monitoring: multidisciplinary cooperation with the library education specialist and integration services and reporting on project progress and evaluation. Requirements: teaching qualification in Finnish language and literature in primary education or another suitable pedagogical higher degree; experience and understanding of S2 teaching and language-aware pedagogy; strong communication, training and networking skills; ability to translate project goals into practical school activities; driving license and access to own car (movement between Raisio schools); commitment to Raisio basic education’s shared culture (link). Desirable: experience in training, mentoring or education development tasks; proactive, solution-oriented work style; experience in multidisciplinary cooperation and stakeholder work.
