Job Details
Responsibilities
- Design and simulate optical systems for medical imaging using Zemax
- Coordinate system design needs with other functions
- Set optical specifications, tolerances, and acceptance criteria with engineers
- Work with vendors to qualify parts and balance cost vs. performance
- Lead development of illumination systems, imaging optics, and subsystems
- Take designs from prototype to production including tolerance analysis and manufacturing yield
- Measure optical performance via MTF and metrology
- Collaborate with software/AI teams to align design with downstream processing
- Contribute to regulatory submissions under ISO13485, EU MDR, eye-safety
Requirements
- Degree in optical engineering, photonics, applied physics, or closely related field
- Hands-on experience designing and building real optical systems
- Deep knowledge of imaging optics, lens design, and illumination engineering
- Experience with optomechanical integration and tolerance analysis
- Comfortable writing optical test protocols and interpreting MTF
- Strong collaboration skills and system-level design understanding
