Lead and develop research, development and innovation activities to support higher education teaching and regional and international impact. A multidisciplinary environment involves collaboration with the board of directors, the rectorate, outcomes-area leadership and external partners. The role’s office can be located at any of our campuses. The position is permanent and starts on 2 November 2026 or by agreement. Our research, development and innovation operations are among the widest in the university of applied sciences sector, and we are proud of strong industry and employment partnerships as well as a wide range of international funding. The Vice Rector heads the RDI unit in addition to shared development services—research and publication services, quality, sustainability, innovation services—and library and information management. In addition to leading your own outcome area, you will collaborate with the CEO on higher education collaboration, strategic development including the ministry of education and culture agreement process, and cooperation with stakeholders and networks at the polytechnic level. The Vice Rector reports directly to the CEO-rector.

Requirements
- PhD degree
- Strong leadership experience in research, higher education, or a demanding organization (5+ years)
- Fluent Finnish; working knowledge of English in international networks
- Collaborative, solution-oriented mindset
