About the role

As a Payment Methods Specialist / Senior Payment Methods Specialist, you will be central to the development, launch, and optimization of Alternative Payment Methods (APMs) across diverse global markets. This role demands a blend of deep payment expertise and strong technical understanding to ensure every integration is robust, stable, and delivers maximum value for our merchants and their customers. You will operate at the intersection of product, technology, and operations, partnering closely with Engineering to define how payment methods are designed, how they perform, and how they scale within the Unlimit ecosystem. As Unlimit evolves toward AI-native financial infrastructure, you will also contribute to building payment integrations that can be consumed, orchestrated, and optimized by intelligent systems and AI agents. Responsibilities: End-to-End Payment Method Lifecycle Management: Lead the full lifecycle of APMs: from initial research and planning through integration, launch, continuous monitoring, and optimization. Ensure the reliability and efficiency of each payment method, aligning them with critical business and market requirements. Cultivate strong relationships with external payment partners and internal cross-functional technical teams. Product Delivery & Technical Collaboration: Contribute to the creation of detailed requirements, functional flows, and acceptance criteria for new APM integrations. Collaborate directly with Engineering to ensure integrations adhere to best practices and meet operational demands. Utilize your understanding of APIs, callbacks, and payment flow architecture to guide solution discussions and accelerate delivery. Coordinate dependencies across teams (Engineering, QA, Operations, Compliance) to achieve smooth and timely releases. Performance, Monitoring & Optimization: Analyze key performance indicators such as success rate, conversion, latency, declines, and transaction errors. Work with Engineering and Support to investigate issues and identify root causes. Proactively use monitoring tools (dashboards, logs, alerts) and data insights to detect problems and drive platform improvements. Identify opportunities to refine user journeys and reduce payment friction. Market and APM Expertise: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of global APM trends, provider capabilities, and regulatory shifts. Evaluate new payment opportunities, providing recommendations based on market fit, merchant demand, and technical complexity. Understand country-specific consumer payment behaviors and leverage these insights in product decisions. Cross-Functional Enablement: Develop clear internal documentation, flow diagrams, and guides for Engineering, Operations, Support, and Commercial teams. Partner with Sales and Marketing to articulate the value proposition of payment methods to merchants. Drive go-to-market efforts for new launches, ensuring complete organizational alignment. Compliance and Quality Assurance: Collaborate with Compliance, Legal, and Risk teams to ensure every payment method adheres to all applicable rules, regulations, and licensing requirements. Ensure solutions are operationally sound, scalable, and aligned with core platform standards.
