We are looking for a lead counsellor for the special-level child welfare unit Metsäraitti in Vantaa! A common feature of Humana’s child welfare services is a client-centred approach. We believe every family’s and child’s challenges can be addressed with timely, needs-based support, care and education. Our work emphasises responsibility, humanity and respect for individuality. Metsäraitti, located in Vantaa’s Asola area, provides substitute care that considers the whole family for children aged 10–17. It has two wards: the seven-place special-level Raitti ward and the six-place demanding-level Metsä ward. What will the work involve? As the long-serving lead counsellor moves to a new role, we are looking for an enthusiastic replacement for a permanent, full-time position in institutional care on the special-level Raitti ward. The work focuses on weekdays and will begin as soon as possible by agreement. As lead counsellor, you will guide an eight-person team. The unit manager, who is present daily, will support you. Your responsibilities include leading everyday operations and the children’s processes, working with social workers and planning staff shifts. Ethical practices are extremely important to us at Humana, and our vision is that everyone has the right to a good life. We want children to feel included and heard, so they are always actively involved in decisions about their own lives. You can bring your own personality to the work and make broad use of your expertise and interests. You can read more about working at Humana and our wellbeing influencers here! Why take this opportunity? You will join a dynamic team that values an energetic approach, joy, kindness and a genuine desire to do impactful yet demanding work in a modern way for children, young people and their families. We will do everything we can to make the work environment as comfortable as possible and the atmosphere positive. You will receive a thorough induction, and we arrange regular work supervision. Our multidisciplinary workplace has broad professional expertise in different areas of life and education, and staff skills are developed through regular training. At Humana, we consider it very important to support our employees’ development and career opportunities. In addition to extensive internal training opportunities, we can negotiate paid training leave and the employer’s contribution to training costs. As a Humana employee, you are entitled to comprehensive occupational healthcare. Humana’s Epassi sports, culture and wellbeing benefit is €400 per year, subject to the working-time condition. You can use it to buy theatre tickets or a gym membership, for example, or visit a dental hygienist. The Epassi commuting benefit totals €900 per year, subject to the working-time condition. You can use it to obtain an HSL travel card for commuting, for example. At Humana, you have an employer that acts responsibly and with values. We firmly believe in our ability to positively influence people and society. We are proud of our values: commitment, responsibility, encounter and joy. Pay The terms of employment and pay are determined in accordance with the collective agreement for private social services. The basic salary for the position is €3,073.62–€3,469.83 per month, depending on relevant experience. In addition, supplements under the collective agreement are paid for any shift work. What kind of colleague are we looking for? The position requires a Bachelor of Social Services (UAS) degree and experience in supervisory work. A driving licence and driving ability, as well as a hygiene passport, are also required. We also require previous experience working with children and young people with serious symptoms and strong experience in child welfare substitute care. We also expect interpersonal and organisational skills, empathy, collaboration skills and a flexible approach. We invest in a good working atmosphere and job satisfaction, and hope you will bring positivity and openness to the team. First aid training, medication training and various further professional courses, especially in psychiatry, are considered an advantage. We hope you are enthusiastic about the constantly developing field of child welfare and approach children’s situations with curiosity and an open mind. Building trust, seeing possibilities and noticing what is good are especially important to us. Please note that the successful candidate must present the criminal record extract required for people working with children under section 6(2) of the Criminal Records Act (770/1993). The selected person must also have a social and healthcare professional ID card when employment begins. We would now like to hear from you! Take this opportunity and submit your application by 1 November 2026. We review applications during the application period and will make the appointment as soon as we find a suitable person. For more information about the position, contact unit manager Janne Pirttikoski, tel. 040 484 3863. We do not accept applications by email. Please submit your application directly through our application link.
