Perho Liiketalousopisto is a vocational education institution founded by employers in the field of hospitality. We operate on three accessible campuses in Helsinki: Malmi, Töölö and the Urhea campus (Mäkelänrinne). At Perho, students study business in the service professions, and we train skilled professionals for the restaurant, tourism and nature sectors as well as for business needs. We also support balancing sports and studies as a sports academy. We are now seeking a Food Production Teacher for the restaurant and catering basic degree programme on a permanent contract. The position can start in August–September or as agreed. You will become part of the food production teachers’ team that, like other restaurant education teachers, mostly works at our Töölö campus. You will teach and guide basic degree students in the restaurant and catering field and coach them toward becoming professionals in service. The teaching scope covers various components of the qualification such as lunch and dish preparation and preparation of à la carte dishes. The job includes career guidance, guidance for on-the-job learning and teaching components of shared qualification modules. We expect from you: a qualification suitable for the role, pedagogical qualification or strong pedagogical and guidance perspective, diverse work experience in the restaurant sector and in food production (professional competence), experience of working with young people and readiness to cooperate with learners of different backgrounds, readiness to participate actively in developing teaching activities and food production teaching, information and communication technology skills and ability to use digital learning environments, fluent Finnish and English language skills and willingness to teach in English, initiative, proactive attitude and teamwork, readiness to commit to Perho’s values: brave, responsible, service-minded and inspiring. It is advantageous to have experience teaching in the restaurant sector (especially food production) and good collaborative networks. It is also advantageous to have the willingness and capability for sustainable future education and participation in development and teaching of a new food production programme (culinary arts). Terms of employment follow the collective agreement for private education personnel. Perho is a fixed schedule employer and teachers’ working hours are determined by Appendix 10A of the collective agreement. The teacher’s salary is influenced by the person’s educational background, pedagogical qualification and relevant work experience.
