Special Educational Needs Teacher

We are seeking a skilled and motivated member for our team as a part-time teacher in the demanding multidisciplinary support class (VMT) for the period 7 Sep 2026 to 31 Jul 2027. The role is to teach the multidisciplinary support group, in which up to eight students study. Primarily the students have decisions on disabilities affecting learning capacity due to illness or impairment, but the class may also include students without this decision and/or individual students in activity-area-based instruction instead of subject-based teaching. In the class, a school assistant/support staff collaborates with the teacher. Rakokiven comprehensive school (multitotal building Loisto) is a primary school of about 430 students located in Rakokiven business center with good transport links. The building also houses the Rakokiven day-care and Nastola library among other users. We have excellent sports facilities nearby. Our school has strong support for learning and a collegial atmosphere. We share expertise within the house and aim to utilize staff strengths. In addition to qualifications, we value collaboration skills, willingness and ability to develop teaching and to work in flexible learning environments. Interpersonal skills, flexibility and fit with the community influence the decision. The qualification requirement is a special class teacher qualification. Qualifications are defined by the Decree on Qualifications for Teaching Personnel (986/98). If there are no qualified applicants, the position may be filled by an applicant without qualifications. The successful candidate must present, before taking up the post, a police background check as required by law 504/2002. A drug test certificate may be requested. The trial period is five months.
