About the role

Do you want to lead a small, high-quality hotel where you can genuinely influence operations and the customer experience? Arctic Skylight Lodge is looking for a **Chief Operating Officer** for a permanent position to be responsible for the daily operational activities of our hotel. This is a new key role in our company. The goal is to gradually transfer operational management from the CEO to the Chief Operating Officer. We offer the opportunity to take real responsibility and influence the development of the company's operations in the long term. **The Role** As the Chief Operating Officer, you will ensure that our hotel operations run smoothly, staff can succeed in their work, and our customers receive a first-class service experience. You will lead the hotel's daily operations as a whole. Your responsibilities include the reception, housekeeping, the smooth functioning of the restaurant, the breakfast experience, and sauna services, in collaboration with the restaurant manager and the head chef. You will not be responsible for the daily management of the kitchen, but you will ensure that the overall experience works seamlessly from the customer's perspective. During the first season, the work will also include practical reception duties. At the same time, you will familiarize yourself with the company's operations and gradually take on more operational management responsibility. **Your responsibilities include, among others:** - managing the daily operations of the hotel - organizing reception operations and customer service - daily management and support of staff - developing the customer experience and service quality - handling complaints - monitoring cleanliness and quality levels - ensuring smooth cooperation between the restaurant and the hotel - monitoring waste and operational activities - approving invoices and preparing operational purchases - continuous development of operating methods Your responsibilities will grow gradually. The goal is for you to lead the hotel's operational activities independently while the CEO focuses on the strategic development of the company. **We hope for:** - experience in operational management within the hotel industry - a strong understanding of daily hotel operations - experience in staff management - the ability to manage overall processes and make decisions - a systematic and proactive approach to work - a desire to develop operations in a long-term manner - fluent skills in Finnish and English Knowledge of the restaurant industry is considered an advantage. **We offer:** - a permanent employment contract - a responsible and versatile management position - the opportunity to influence the company's operations and develop them long-term - a unique working environment in the nature of Lapland Work is seasonal. During the winter season (November–April), the work is full-time. During the summer season, while the hotel is closed, the workload is smaller, averaging about 2–3 days per week. During this time, work focuses on administrative tasks, such as handling emails and bookings, processing invoices, and preparation and development tasks for the next season, which can also be done remotely. Practical arrangements regarding working hours will be agreed upon together. Work begins in November. Salary is agreed upon based on experience and expertise.
