Social services instructor in child welfare; requires a social services degree and three-shift work.

Original job description

We are now looking for a social services professional to work as an instructor at the Arjen Sydän child welfare unit in Siuntio! At Humana, working with children is at its best when it means genuine encounters, making everyday life easier, offering comfort and bringing joy to others. Every employee is a positive influence and helps build the value of life. We believe that the challenges faced by every family and child can be addressed through timely, appropriate support, care and upbringing. Our work emphasises responsibility, humanity and respect for individuality. What kind of work awaits you? The job is full-time and permanent. The work is carried out in three shifts. We will agree with you on when the work starts. As an instructor, you support and encourage children and young people through everyday challenges and participate in assessing the child’s care and upbringing. You will also act as a designated key worker. The work is based on listening to clients, treating them respectfully and supporting their participation. We always work closely with guardians, the wider network, schools and social services. Our work is relationship-based and grounded in an attachment-focused framework. Arjen Sydän’s homely premises are located in Siuntio, surrounded by beautiful nature while still relatively close to services. Arjen Sydän is a seven-place specialised unit. We provide children in care with a homelike and safe environment in which to live. You can expect work where no two days are alike! We offer an interesting role that enables your professional growth. We provide comprehensive continuing education and work supervision. You will be supported by an on-site line manager and a multidisciplinary team. You can bring your own personality to the work and make versatile use of your skills and interests. You do not need to know everything immediately; we will provide an induction. You can read more about working at Humana and our positive influencers through the link in the original advertisement. Why take this opportunity? At Humana, we consider it very important to support our employees’ development and career opportunities. In addition to our comprehensive internal training opportunities, we can negotiate paid study leave and the employer’s contribution to your training costs. Strengthening our expertise benefits us all! As a Humana employee, you are entitled to comprehensive occupational healthcare. Humana’s Epassi exercise, culture and wellbeing benefit is worth €400 per year, subject to meeting the working-time requirement. You can use it to buy theatre tickets or a gym membership, or for example to visit a dental hygienist. At Humana, you get an employer committed to responsibility and values. We firmly believe in our ability to have a positive impact on people and society. We are proud of our values: commitment, responsibility, encounter and joy. Salary The basic salary for the position is €2,811.09–€3,071.09 per month, depending on your previous work experience. In addition to the salary, shift-work supplements are paid in accordance with the private social services sector collective agreement. What kind of colleague are we looking for? We expect you to have a bachelor’s degree in social services from a university of applied sciences. The job description will be developed together with you, and we will aim to take your skills and interests into account. We value previous experience working with children and young people, particularly experience in child protection, psychiatric care for children and young people, and the care and upbringing of children. The most important qualities for success in the role are a genuinely client-centred approach, the courage to meet every client as an individual on their own terms, good interaction skills and flexibility in changing situations. Please note that the person selected must present the criminal record extract required under section 6(2) of the Criminal Records Act (770/1993) for people working with children. The selected person must have obtained a social and healthcare professional card by the start of employment. Next, we would like to hear from you! Take this opportunity and submit your application by 18 October 2026 at the latest. We review applications during the application period and may make a selection before it ends. For further information about the position, contact unit manager Hannele Lehtonen, tel. 050 475 9685, hannele.lehtonen@humana.fi. For information security reasons, we do not accept applications by email. Submit your application directly through the application link.
