Chief Accountant

The long‑time chief accountant we are replacing due to retirement is sought for a permanent position in our financial administration. In this role you will take responsibility for the municipality’s bookkeeping as a whole and play a central role in our town’s financial management. Your areas of responsibility include the municipality’s bookkeeping and VAT matters, preparation of the budget and the drafting of the financial statements in bookkeeping terms, being the main user of the financial software ProEconomica, reporting to the State Treasury and participating in monitoring municipal finances, and internal control tasks. The job requires an opistotasoinen merkonomin degree or equivalent higher education degree and several years’ experience with demanding bookkeeping tasks and financial reporting, with strong practical know‑how of the bookkeeping system. We particularly value municipal or public sector experience in these tasks. The candidate must have good cooperation and interpersonal skills, initiative, ability to work independently, stress resistance and good organizational skills; willingness to learn and update skills is also essential. The position will be filled by mutual agreement, no later than 16 November 2026. The base salary is determined by the job level system and is currently xx. Terms of service follow the Municipal Sector collective agreement (KVTES) and a six‑month probation period applies. The successful candidate must present a health certificate before assuming duties.
