About the role

Boliden Kokkola is Europe’s second-largest zinc plant and the largest industrial employer in Kokkola. We currently employ about 590 professionals across various fields. We operate on international markets and continually develop our operations in line with industry best practices. We are part of Boliden, an international leading metals company. Our aim is to be the world’s most climate-friendly and respected metal producer. Are you studying for a vocational basic degree in process, laboratory, mechanical, production engineering or electrical and automation technology? Great news – we are looking for you to join as a workplace learner at the zinc plant. During your training period you will get a front-row view of what work in Europe’s second-largest zinc plant is like. In production, as a student in the process field you will work in different production areas, as part of a skilled team taking care of process start-up and maintenance tasks. Your work may be day or shift-based. In mechanical maintenance you will be part of a strong team whose task is to ensure that the plant’s machinery runs smoothly. Your maintenance tasks include preventive maintenance and fault orders. You will also participate in the commissioning of various projects. In electrical and automation maintenance you will, during your training contract, ensure that process equipment operates reliably with your team. Together with an experienced fitter you will carry out preventive maintenance, fault orders, and project handovers. In the laboratory you will work as part of a ~30-person team handling analyses related to raw materials, process control, product and environmental analytics. You will be guided by professional and motivated laboratory staff. Education and requirements: you must have completed vocational theory before starting the workplace learning period. You must be of legal age and be able to work in Finnish. In the selection, preference is given to applicants whose studies include workplace learning on a training contract. The application period for the training contract is open continuously and selections are made on an ongoing basis. Please act promptly so the selection process can proceed smoothly for both sides. The process includes a health check. Welcome to the industrial world! We offer varied tasks and excellent opportunities to develop your skills. Our shared values – care, courage and responsibility – guide our actions. We expect you to participate actively in developing a safe and good working environment. Health and safety matters are of primary importance to us. Department supervisors make selections based on applications and contact the chosen individuals personally. We only contact those who are offered a place. More information: HR specialist Tiina Kastrén, tiina.kastren@boliden.com. Welcome to the fascinating world of metals!
