Two positions for student welfare psychologists have opened in the southeastern service area of Lapland welfare region, covering the municipalities of Rovaniemi, Ranua and Posio. The placements are in Rovaniemi and Ranua. Student welfare psychologists work as part of multidisciplinary student welfare teams in their own educational institutions, bringing psychology expertise to early childhood education and schools and promoting student wellbeing, safety and a positive learning climate. The role spans from preschool and basic education to upper secondary schools. The aim is not only to help when there is stress but to develop proactive methods that support learning and wellbeing and to bring them into everyday practice. Key duties include: applying psychology expertise to school communities and evaluating and identifying development needs; counselling and guidance in schools and institutions on children’s and youths’ development, mental health and wellbeing; supporting students’ mental wellbeing with assessments, guidance and advice; assessing issues related to child and youth development, schooling and learning, planning and implementing support measures in collaboration with the student, guardians and educators; designing, implementing and issuing recommendations and statements based on psychological methods and assessment information. The role’s salary is 4,688.79 €/month with potential experience allowance. The service terms follow the Social and Health Care Agreement and there is a 6-month probation. If selected, you must present a criminal record extract as required by law when working with children. Vaccination protection follows health requirements for work and infectious disease control.
