Postdoctoral researcher in quantum algorithms and optimization for Life Science applications. You will join the Micro and Quantum Systems (MQS) research group in the Department of Electronics and Nanoengineering, School of Electrical Engineering. The position sits at the intersection of quantum computing, computational biology, genomics, and materials science. Your role includes developing hybrid quantum–classical algorithms for domain-specific, computationally demanding problems, evaluating expressivity and scalability, and benchmarking against classical baselines. Research topics cover quantum walk algorithms, variational quantum algorithms and their optimization, adiabatic quantum computation, and quantum machine learning. Applications span bioinformatics, breeding, biomaterial synthesis, and cellulose‑processing enzyme design. You will supervise PhD students and contribute to teaching. Our group currently comprises 1 professor, 1 lecturer, 1 staff scientist, 2 postdocs, 5 PhD students, and several undergraduates. The contract is fixed-term for two years with a salary of about 4200 €/month. We offer a hybrid work environment based in Otaniemi, Espoo.
