The Jyväskylä city basic education department seeks substitute teachers for mid-year vacancies in various teaching roles, including class teacher, special education, special class teaching, and subject teaching. The department operates nearly 40 schools and works with around 1,000 teachers. Eligibility for teaching positions is defined by the Government Decree 1998/986; applicants must present a police background check in accordance with the Child Welfare Act 504/2002 before employment begins. Applicants may include students or others interested in substitutes; recruitment is assessed case by case based on the vacancy length.
