In Jyväskylä, high-quality youth work is conducted, which is also appreciated by young people. We are now looking for a YOUTH WORKER for mobile youth work in a permanent position starting September 1, 2026. At the start of employment, the position is located in mobile youth work (Nuorisopaku). The work of a youth worker is primarily educational work mainly with young people aged 13-29. Your duties include meeting and guiding young people in the activities of mobile youth work and in group activities with various contents. Your working hours are focused on the leisure time of young people, emphasizing evening work, including weekend work. Evening work is at least 3-4 times a week. The activities are guided by the Youth Act. The mobile youth work Nuorisopaku moves around the city throughout the year, focusing on areas where there is no permanent youth service point. The goal of mobile youth work is to bring meaningful leisure activities to sparsely populated areas, while providing a meeting place and the presence of safe adults for young people who need it. In addition to open evening activities, mobile youth work carries out regular and versatile school cooperation in different areas and participates, as far as possible, in various events aimed at young people. In the summer season, the areas and places where young people are known to gather, especially in the evening, are emphasized. During the summer, Nuorisopaku moves mainly from Tuesday to Saturday. In the summer, the activities of mobile youth work are implemented on the principle of outreach youth work, observing various phenomena in different parts of the city. Mobile youth work employees are part of the extended outreach youth work team of Jyväskylä youth services, which is responsible especially for outreach youth work on Friday evenings and public holidays. The area of regional youth work includes, in addition to mobile youth work, 8 youth centers and the cultural youth work center Veturitallit. You will receive a good induction in your work and support from supervisors and the entire work community. You are warmly welcome! What do we expect from you? As a qualification requirement, a university degree suitable for the position or a previous institute-level degree is required. In addition, we require expertise in mobile and outreach youth work. Expertise and experience in other youth work methods are considered an advantage. Working in the position requires a B-driver's license and willingness to drive a motorhome. In the Nuorisopaku, you have the opportunity to utilize various youth work methods extensively and diversely. You recognize the broad field of youth work and understand its significance as part of supporting the growth and well-being of young people. You have the ability to meet young people genuinely and holistically, and the skill to involve, encourage and support them. Your approach is educational, development-oriented, open and positive. The work requires strong overall management skills and you are able to operate in changing work environments during the working days. Good planning, cooperation, communication and interaction skills are essential in our work and you are capable of independent and proactive work. You work smoothly with other professionals either in networks, work communities or as a pair. The terms of the employment relationship are determined in accordance with the Municipal General Government and Collective Agreement (KVTES). The level salary of the position is €2841.05/month. In addition, we pay work experience addition according to KVTES, which is at most 8% of the position-specific salary. Working time 38.25 h/week. The position starts on September 1, 2026 or by agreement. Before accepting the position, the selected person must present a criminal record extract as intended by the Act on the Checking of the Criminal Background of Persons Working with Children (504/2002), which must not be older than six months.
