Early Childhood Education Teacher

The City of Helsinki is seeking a new early childhood education teacher for the next operating period at Leppäsuo daycare centre, in a group of children aged 3–5. The teacher’s work partners in the group are an early childhood education social services professional and a childcare worker. The group is active, and the children are used to working in small groups. Our unit has an active pedagogical group for teachers that provides mentoring and pedagogical support. As an early childhood education teacher, you are responsible for developing your group’s culture of activity and learning environment, planning, implementing, developing and evaluating pedagogical activities, and supporting children’s individual learning in accordance with the City of Helsinki’s early childhood education and pre-primary education plans, the early childhood education unit’s operating plan and the child’s individual early childhood education plan. Eligibility requirements: We require eligibility under the Early Childhood Education Act (540/2018), or eligibility under the transitional provision (section 75), based on a Bachelor of Education degree (early childhood education teacher), a suitable university of applied sciences degree, or an earlier equivalent college-level qualification, such as a kindergarten teacher or social educator qualification (Act 272/2005 and Decree 608/2005). A Finnish National Agency for Education decision recognising a foreign qualification as eligible for the position also fulfils the qualification requirement. We also require good spoken and written Finnish. The selected candidate must present a valid criminal record extract for working with children (504/2002). A statement concerning respiratory tuberculosis is checked for people working with children under school age (Communicable Diseases Act, section 55).
