About the role

Job title: Education Welfare Officer. Location: Nauvo, Korppoo, and Houtskari in theVarsinais-Suomi region, Finland. We are seeking a substitute School Counselor to begin by agreement, ending by 4 June 2027. The School Counselor works as an autonomous expert in their field and promotes the well-being of children and youths within the school community. Your duties include individual work with students, participation in the school's student welfare team, and preventive work with classes and student groups. You will collaborate closely with students, families, school staff and other partners. Your responsibilities include supporting students in studies, relationships, handling life situations and the process of becoming independent. You also support students in times of change and crisis and participate in promoting well-being within the school community. Your main workplace is Kyrkbackens School in Nauvo, with work also at Korppoo and Houtskari schools. Working hours are 30 hours and 12 minutes per week (80%). We interview applicants during the application period and fill the substitute position as soon as a suitable candidate is found. What we expect: independence, organizational ability, development-minded approach and good interpersonal and communication skills. You must be able to work with many different people and support children and youths in various life situations. The job requires access to a own car for travel to schools and strong oral and written proficiency in both official languages. Experience working with children and youths is an advantage. Eligibility requires a higher education degree within a social welfare or related field (as defined in the Social Welfare Law 817/2015) or a degree in social or educational sciences or behavioral sciences.
