Itä-Uudenmaan hyvinvointialue seeks a FIREFIGHTER for a permanent position starting 1 October 2026 or by agreement. Primary placement is at the Porvoo fire station. We are looking for a motivated colleague to join the Itä-Uudenmaan fire department. Our operating area includes a nuclear power plant, Finland’s largest oil port, the Nordic region’s largest chemical industry cluster and the culturally valuable Old Town of Porvoo. All main stations maintain readiness for water operations. Water diving and UAS operations are centralized to the Porvoo station. Our region also includes new fire stations in Lovisa and Sipoo and up-to-date equipment that supports good working conditions. We value training and support staff specialization such as water diving, ship’s engineer, or forklift operator, for which compensation is paid according to special responsibility. The region’s diversity guarantees varied tasks and the community will be learned quickly. "Eligibility:" - Eligibility for personnel of the rescue service under Section 6 of the Decree 407/2011 on Rescue Services - Valid water diving qualification for demanding tasks: Firefit index at least 3.0; oxygen uptake values both at level 3 (at least 3.0 L/min and 36.00 ml/kg/min). A test performed at the Rescue Institute within a year for recent graduates - Valid BC driving license "Advantageous for applicants:" - Water diving and surface rescue competence per instruction 28/2023 - Knowledge of the Itä-Uudenmaa rescue area "We additionally value:" - Team orientation and willingness to develop - Good physical condition Our staff can benefit from Mehiläinen occupational health services. Terms of employment follow HYVTES. Working hours are 42 hours per week on a 24-hour day rhythm with special dispensation. Task-based salary is 2,559.70 EUR/month plus possible experience-based supplements. In addition, a 41% overall compensation is paid to staff operating on a 24-hour schedule. Special responsibility allowances include water diver (170.13 EUR/month), ship’s engineer (170.13 EUR/month), forklift operator (56.71 EUR/month), UAS remote pilot (56.71 EUR/month) and stand-in for fire supervisor (113.42 EUR/month). Probation period is six months. Applicants must consent to drug testing and a limited security clearance. The appointment is conditional until a medical certificate of health and a drug test result are provided within one month of starting the job. The security clearance must meet required standards.
