Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Precision is the product – come design equipment where parts measured in millimetres make all the difference. Are you an experienced precision mechanics or equipment design professional who wants to take demanding projects from start to finish and work close to customers? We are looking for a senior mechanical design engineer in Lahti to serve industrial customers in the region. In this senior role, you will advance technical design with your own initiative, take responsibility for the quality of solutions and share your expertise with less experienced team members. In smaller projects, you will also act as project manager. What you will do day to day • Design precision mechanisms, equipment and assemblies, with command of tolerances, materials and manufacturability. • Carry out demanding design work independently and develop design methods from the perspectives of quality, safety and productivity. • Take solutions from prototype to small-scale production together with the customer and manufacturers. • Identify project quality requirements and risks early and ensure they are managed. • Mentor less experienced colleagues and take responsibility for small projects or a work package within a larger project. You are a good candidate if • You have a master’s or bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, or equivalent experience, and several years of practical experience in precision mechanics or equipment design. • You are proficient in 3D CAD (for example SolidWorks, Creo, NX or Catia) and PDM-based version control. • You understand tolerance stacks, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, and the effects of manufacturing methods on design. • You know different manufacturing technologies and materials and can select the most suitable ones for each product. • You take ownership: the design is not complete until it works in the actual equipment. • You communicate clearly in both Finnish and English. Knowledge of plastic injection moulding and power electronics is an advantage. Experience with measuring equipment, optics, medical devices or other precision equipment is also an advantage – tell us about it in your application.
