About the role

Järviseudun koulutuskuntayhtymä seeks a Education Director to lead the new area of renewable technologies and services at the Lappajärvi unit. This is a permanent civil service position starting 1 November 2026 or by agreement. The role will be reorganised into a head of education (koulutuspäällikkö) in 2027, and will be located at Lappajärvi and Vimpeli units. The Director is responsible for (i) planning, implementing and evaluating education at the units, ensuring quality and financial targets align with the operational plan in cooperation with the management team; (ii) ensure compliance with authorities’ regulations concerning educational activities; (iii) development and implementation of vocational education per degree requirements and work-life oriented planning; (iv) admission decisions and temporary interruptions as well as withdrawal decisions; (v) partly overseeing student wellbeing; (vi) acting as supervisor to the unit’s staff, including recruitment, employment matters, annual work plans, skills development and wellbeing in collaboration with the management team; (vii) participating in budget preparation and cost efficiency; (viii) ensuring safety and health of staff according to occupational safety rules. Required: professional training and related legislation, strong experience in vocational education leadership and collaboration with working life, strong interpersonal and communication skills, knowledge of occupational safety and risk management, teamwork and initiative and development-mindedness. The successful candidate must have teacher qualification under the act (986/1998, 13 §) equating to 60 credits or 35 study credits of pedagogical studies plus a suitable higher education degree; plus substantial leadership experience and a teacher administration degree per the authorities’ criteria. Job site is in Lappajärvi, driving license and own car are required. Start date 1 November 2026 or by agreement. Salary is governed by the Municipal collective agreement; full-time position with a flexible 36.25 h/week schedule, up to 10% teaching duties per year and other duties as decided by the director. Six-month trial period. Requires medical certificate and police background check prior to appointment. Applications and CVs to be submitted electronically by 13 September 2026.
