Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end payroll processing for multi-state semi-monthly and bi-weekly runs.
  • Audit and reconcile payroll inputs (wages, deductions, tax entries, contributions, time/attendance).
  • Coordinate employee lifecycle changes and benefits deductions.
  • Handle registrations for multiple state/local tax jurisdictions.
  • Review and update payroll tax procedures to mitigate risks and compliance issues.
  • Support year-end payroll operations and tax filings.
  • Audit benefit plan payroll deductions and carrier invoices.
  • Serve as primary contact for payroll inquiries.
  • Collaborate on payroll system workflows with automation.
  • Deliver payroll reporting insights for compliance and reconciliation.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of dedicated payroll administration experience handling multi-state tax compliance and regulatory requirements.
  • In-depth understanding of local, state, and federal wage-and-hour laws, payroll tax guidelines, and statutory regulations.
  • Direct experience managing payroll systems and navigating software infrastructure to support data updates.
  • Strong technical capability in data verification tools, standard formulas, and compiling accurate pivot tables.
  • Proven analytical capacity to audit complex datasets, diagnose payroll friction points, and isolate data errors.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a history of maintaining strict confidentiality when dealing with sensitive compensation records.
  • Nice to have: Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC).
