Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end payroll processing for multi-state semi-monthly and bi-weekly runs.
- Audit and reconcile payroll inputs (wages, deductions, tax entries, contributions, time/attendance).
- Coordinate employee lifecycle changes and benefits deductions.
- Handle registrations for multiple state/local tax jurisdictions.
- Review and update payroll tax procedures to mitigate risks and compliance issues.
- Support year-end payroll operations and tax filings.
- Audit benefit plan payroll deductions and carrier invoices.
- Serve as primary contact for payroll inquiries.
- Collaborate on payroll system workflows with automation.
- Deliver payroll reporting insights for compliance and reconciliation.
Requirements
- 5+ years of dedicated payroll administration experience handling multi-state tax compliance and regulatory requirements.
- In-depth understanding of local, state, and federal wage-and-hour laws, payroll tax guidelines, and statutory regulations.
- Direct experience managing payroll systems and navigating software infrastructure to support data updates.
- Strong technical capability in data verification tools, standard formulas, and compiling accurate pivot tables.
- Proven analytical capacity to audit complex datasets, diagnose payroll friction points, and isolate data errors.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a history of maintaining strict confidentiality when dealing with sensitive compensation records.
- Nice to have: Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC).
