We are inviting you to become an early childhood education teacher at day care Mustikka. You will work in a small day care with a group of 1–4 year olds, together with two other early childhood education assistants. Mustikka Day Care has four groups, each with its own cozy spaces, and a forested yard with opportunities for excursions. The red thread in the Mustikka-Herukka early childhood unit is multilingualism and diversity, and we hope these themes will be important for you as well. In a small unit we encourage job rotation, so in the future you will have the opportunity to work in other groups within our unit. For all staff meeting the qualification requirements, a regional equalization benefit of 150€/month is paid in addition to base salary until 31.10.2026 to help prevent regional disparities in early childhood education. As an early childhood teacher you are responsible for building your group’s operating culture and learning environment, planning, implementing, developing and evaluating pedagogical activities and supporting each child’s individual learning according to the Helsinki early childhood and pre-school plan, unit plan, and child’s vasu. Why work with us? We value that you can do meaningful work for a good life in Helsinki. We want you to succeed and be inspired in your work. We offer diverse growth opportunities. According to the latest staff survey, we are seen as a meaningful workplace. You will have access to the largest employee benefits package in Finland, including a 550€ Epassi Flex benefit for commuting and cultural, sports and wellbeing services. Read more about our employee benefits and about Helsinki as an employer at hel.fi/fi/avoimet-tyopaikat/miksi-toihin-kaupungille. Qualifications: You must have the eligibility under the Finnish Child Welfare Act (540/2018) or, per transitional provision (75 §), a Bachelor’s degree in education or a suitable university degree or an equivalent diploma such as a kindergarten teacher or social educator degree. A recognition decision of eligibility based on foreign education by the Finnish National Agency for Education also qualifies you. In addition, you must have good Finnish language skills (spoken and written). The selected candidate must provide a current criminal background check for working with children (504/2002). A health clearance for inhalation-related tuberculosis for those working with under-school children will be checked (Communicable Diseases Act § 55). When starting a permanent position as an early childhood teacher at the City of Helsinki in 2026 we offer a 2000€ signing bonus, paid only once to the same person. For more information contact the head of the daycare. We value multilingualism.
