We are looking for a library assistant for a permanent position starting 12.10.2026 in the main library's adult services. The library is a dynamic part of the city’s cultural life and collaborates with other library units. Your duties include promoting literacy and wellbeing among elderly customers, participating in the development of age-friendly services, planning and implementing events, as well as home library service, customer service, information, and collection work. Successful applicants will have an active, independent approach, good customer service and interaction skills, and the ability to engage with older customers. The role requires good Finnish, public speaking ability, guidance skills, digital competences, flexibility, organizational ability, and strong knowledge of the collection. We offer meaningful work that advances older adults’ wellbeing and inclusion with a supportive team environment. The position emphasizes collaboration with other city library units.

Responsibilities

Requirements
- A relevant professional or higher education degree, including library and information studies totaling at least 60 ECTS credits or 35 study weeks.
