The positions are substitute teaching assignments with varying durations from a day to several months. Substitutes are needed for teaching in primary education, special education, as well as general education, high school and Otavan Folk High School subject teaching. Some longer substitutions are posted in a separate application. In autumn, permanent and fixed-term teaching positions are posted in a separate call. Applicants are encouraged to monitor the City of Mikkeli’s open vacancies on the TE office website or on the City of Mikkeli site year-round. A substitute must have the teaching personnel’s qualifications in accordance with the 986/1998 qualification decree. Applicants who are studying to become teachers or planning to become teachers may apply to the substitute register; with discretion, applicants with other education may also be admitted. After submitting the application, you will receive email with further instructions on scheduling an interview. If selected for a substitute position, you must bring original degree and work certificates and an identity card. If a substitute is offered, a current criminal background check for working with children must be presented before starting. Depending on the length of the assignment, the appointee must present a health statement approved by the employer before starting. A trial period will be set (max 6 months). The applicant is responsible for keeping their application and availability up to date in the register. Maintaining up-to-date contact and availability information is a prerequisite for being offered substitute positions.
