Physical Education Teacher

Kainuun ammattiopisto is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled professional for a permanent Vocational Teacher position in the field of physical education, starting from 1 October 2026 or by agreement. The role involves teaching and guiding students in secondary vocational education within Vuokatti Sport’s operating environment, as part of the physical education team. The job includes competency-based teaching and supervision for vocational qualification students, mentoring, and responsibility for developing students’ personal competency plans. Teaching and guidance are primarily carried out as face-to-face instruction at the school and at industry workplaces, with possible remote/online teaching and guidance. The teacher’s duties also include assessment of competence (practical demonstrations), multi-professional collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, planning, organizing, professional development, and responsibility for safety and economical use of resources within the role. The teaching and guidance focus on the content of the basic education in physical activity guidance and the field’s professional and special vocational qualifications. We value up-to-date digital skills, a development-oriented and flexible work attitude, and teamwork skills. We appreciate current work experience in the physical activity field and coaching expertise, and a broad view of the contents of basic vocational education with regard to work-life orientation within teaching. The eligibility criteria follow the Decree on qualifications of the staff of education (986/1998, amended 1150/2017) and require a suitable higher education degree or applicable university of applied sciences degree, at least 60 credits or 35 study weeks of pedagogical studies for teachers, and at least three years’ practical work experience in tasks equivalent to teaching. The position may be filled as fixed-term if a suitably qualified applicant is not found. The institution operates in Kainuussa, Koillismaalla, and occasionally elsewhere; a driving license is mandatory. The selected candidate must present a criminal record extract as required by law, a health certificate, and, upon request, a certificate of substance abuse testing.
