As an employer, we enable continuing education and support the development of personal competencies. We encourage developing the rescue department according to your own skills and interests. We seek three (3) firefighters for the Pohjanmaa welfare region’s rescue department. The firefighter’s multifaceted duties include rescue operations, extinguishing, first aid, accident prevention and protection of property, as well as other supervisor-assigned tasks. Duties also include training and conducting exercises. The firefighter participates in accident-prevention work, both through supervision and education. Tasks are performed in various operating environments and conditions. Work is team, pair and solitary. In successful performance, good teamwork, initiative, planning, willingness to develop and a positive attitude toward tasks are needed. You also need good IT skills. Desirable: water diving course (water rescue diver qualification), continued training in the rescue sector and other qualifications supporting operations (e.g., forklift operator and boat master qualifications). Salary and working hours for the firefighter position are determined according to the personnel collective agreement and pension benefits are determined according to the public sector pension act. Working time is 38.25 hours/week and/or other working hours according to exemptions; currently 40 h/week. The position may require standby. A six (6) month probation period may be applied. The selected person must, if necessary, present an acceptable health certificate before confirming the appointment. Additionally, with the consent of the selected, a short security clearance is conducted as per the Security Clearance Act and the applicant must be available for service. The placement is the rescue department’s area, initially Vaasa. Requirements include: Government Decree on Rescue 407/2011, §6, point 1. Ability to understand and use both national languages of the country. Other requirements: proficiency as a fire diver and the ability to operate under demanding tasks, Firefit level 3.0; at least BC driving license.
