Vaasa city basic education seeks a project leader with the title School Coordinator for the Safe and Well School project for the period 1 Oct 2026 to 31 Jul 2027. The School Coordinator (project lead) is responsible for the Safe and Well School project within basic education in Vaasa, planning and implementing activities in line with the project’s goals, coordinating and maintaining networks, monitoring and documenting activities, and reporting on progress, results, effects and impact. The coordinator develops and coordinates actions to prevent bullying, harassment and violence in basic education, with a focus on the entire Ostrobothnia region and all Finnish- and Swedish-language basic schools in the area. In addition to developing operating models, the School Coordinator acts as a low-threshold consultancy and support service for schools. The coordinator participates in investigations, mediations and follow-ups of bullying and violence situations when needed, organizes trainings, conducts lessons in basic education schools, arranges related events, and participates in parent evenings as needed. Key partners include the multidisciplinary Anchors Team operating from the Ostrobothnian Police Department in Vaasa and Jakobstad and the Ostrobothnian Mediation Office; cooperation also with social services, youth services, Victim Support, MIELI Ostrobothnia Mental Health Association and other actors working with children, youth and families. The role is an independent expert task; the School Coordinator works in several networks and collaborates with various actors and teams, but is responsible for the content, planning and prioritization of their own work with board support. A suitable university degree is required; teaching qualifications at any level are an advantage. Language requirements are strong spoken and written skills in both official languages. Advantage: expertise in networking and mediation; strong conflict resolution skills; experience in dealing with bullying, violence and other challenging situations; experience in independent expert, development or project work. We value project experience and solid teaching experience, good cooperation and communication skills, initiative, and the ability to coordinate different networks in Ostrobothnia. We offer an interesting role in a joint project between basic education and the police, aiming to develop and root models to reduce bullying, discrimination and violence among children and youth, and to establish the school coordinator role in Ostrobothnia from 1 Aug 2027 if funding is secured. Salary is 3900-4100 € / month, depending on qualifications. A five-month probation period applies.
