Funeral Services Foreman

We are looking for a funeral services foreman for a versatile role where, in addition to professional expertise, supervisory and interaction skills are very important. In their work, the funeral services foreman meets bereaved families for whom the cemetery is a very important place to remember the deceased. Expertise is required in areas such as burials, cemetery maintenance, and crematorium operations. Success in the position requires good interaction skills, the ability to meet grieving relatives, independent decision-making ability, and stress tolerance. The funeral services foreman reports to the Director of Funeral Services. Purpose and objective of the position Supervisory duties at the Intiö crematorium in a way that supports the parish's operations and finances. Participation in crematorium work and the duties of a sexton. Performing the duties requires a willingness to work evenings and weekends if necessary. Commitment to the church and the values of the Oulu Parish Union is emphasized in this position. Main content of the position - Supervisory duties and work arrangements for the crematorium/chapel team in cooperation with the head gardener - Maintaining the crematorium spare parts inventory and organizing crematorium maintenance, including contact with the oven manufacturer and maintenance organization if necessary - Orientation for work tasks - Crematorium work, including dealing with relatives and funeral homes - Sexton duties - Including guiding relatives, managing chapel technology, and assisting the priest and cantors - Other duties assigned by the supervisor Eligibility requirements: Technical vocational qualification and expertise. Only a confirmed member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church is eligible for employment. Considered an advantage Vocational qualification in parish and funeral services. Experience in supervisory roles, sexton duties, and working in a crematorium, as well as English language skills. Note Before the start of employment, the selected candidate must present an acceptable medical certificate regarding their state of health according to separate instructions. Application period 6–24 August 2026 until 3 PM. Interviews will be held on 2 September 2026. Start of employment 1 October 2026 or by agreement. Probationary period 6 months. Salary is determined according to KirVESTES requirement group 502 (2,879.38 - 3,028.21 euros/month). Additionally, a monetary experience bonus may be paid upon completion of 3 (101.50 euros/month), 5 (202.00 euros/month), 10 (303.00 euros/month), and 15 (378.00 euros/month) years of qualifying service.
