Helsinki SOTEPE has a total of ten (10) senior centers and seven (7) service houses across Helsinki. In senior centers, elderly people can live long-term or short-term, be on an assessment and rehabilitation period, or participate in day and service center activities. The clients and residents of senior centers are all elderly people with multiple diseases. Many different social and health care professionals work with us, whose common task is to support our clients' well-being. Work is done together every day of the week, 24/7. According to our personnel survey, the strengths of work experienced in senior centers in 2025 are: - Meaningfulness of work, as a large part feel their work is important - A clear everyday life, where employees know what is expected of them - Goal-oriented activity, meaning that the implementation of goals is actively monitored in work communities - Comprehensive personnel benefits, with which there is wide satisfaction Now available are a total of two (2) fixed-term practical nurse positions: Koskela Senior Center (Hospitaalinkulku 8), relief staff: Starting in autumn 2026, some of the relief staff of senior centers and service houses will merge as part of a new operating model pilot. We are now looking for a new practical nurse who, as needed, works in Kivelä, Kustaankartano, and Koskela senior centers as well as Puistola and Madetoja service houses in substitutions for sudden absences and known staff shortages. The workstation is located in Koskela at the start of the employment. Start in the position is as soon as possible and the employment lasts until 31.12.2027. The work is two-shift work. Kustaankartano Senior Center (Oltermannintie 32), Memory Care Unit Kartanonhovi: Memory Care Unit Kartanonhovi is looking for a practical nurse who has an understanding of the effect of memory diseases on the functional capacity of the elderly. Start in the position is as soon as possible and the employment lasts until 31.12.2026. The work is three-shift work. Practical nurse's duties include: - Supporting residents' functional capacity and resources through rehabilitative nursing - Basic care and assistance in everyday situations - Implementing the care plan - Medication and wound care - Real-time recording in the Apotti client information system - Cooperation with the multidisciplinary team and relatives. We expect from you: - You are a licensed practical nurse - You can work in three-shift work, and in two-shift work for relief staff - You have good interaction and cooperation skills - You have an understanding of memory diseases and their effects on the functional capacity of the elderly - You want to share your own expertise with other colleagues in the team. Eligibility requirement: Practical nurse degree and registration in the central register of professional personnel of the License and Supervision Authority (formerly Valvira). Good oral and satisfactory written skills in Finnish. Before the selection decision, the applicant must present an occupational health assessment of their ability to perform the tasks included in the work and a certificate regarding a drug test. The position requires vaccination protection according to Section 48 of the Communicable Diseases Act and a tuberculosis investigation according to Section 55 of the Communicable Diseases Act. Successful completion of the LOP/LOVe LOP medication permit is required by the end of the probationary period. The selected person must, before accepting the position, present a criminal record extract in accordance with the Act on the investigation of the criminal background of persons working with elderly people (Act on Social and Health Care Supervision 741/2023, Section 28). We consider as an advantage work experience in working with the elderly, knowledge of using the RAI assessment system and Apotti patient information system, and valid LOVE medication permits.
