Sosionomi Rinnekodit Helmiin is a permanent position in a specialized intensive care unit for children with disabilities, located in Helsinki. The unit offers long-term, 24/7 foster care services for under-18s who are in care and/or have special needs, focusing on autism spectrum disorders and care and upbringing of youths with developmental disabilities. The unit operates within a neuropsychiatric framework and aims to support the overall psychosocial well-being of the young person, considering individual needs. The team collaborates closely with social work, education, and specialized health services, and quality is ensured through ongoing reflection, teamwork, supervision, and training. Responsibilities include supporting the child’s development through safe daily structures, presence, community, and functional activities; carrying out planned care, rehabilitation, and upbringing with a multidisciplinary team; administering medications and related documentation; applying expertise from child protection and developmental disability work; forming relationships with children/youths; reliable cooperation with stakeholders; reporting and record-keeping; acting as a mentor/guide within the home and participating in daily care and upbringing as part of the team. Requirements include a AMK degree in social work and Valvira registration, willingness to work in three shifts, strong Finnish language skills for documentation and client interaction, experience in intensive developmental disability work and foster care for at-risk youth, ability to act as a safe and reliable adult, driving licence and willingness to drive within the Helsinki region. Rinnekodit is a smoke- and substance-free workplace. A criminal background check valid under the Finnish law 504/2002 must be presented. The work community includes practical nurses, nurses, social workers, and a supervisor; the supervisor supports development with a coaching approach. Offered are a salary level under G24D (2850.98–3110.42 € + applicable shift allowances under the private social services collective agreement) and a monthly allowance of 150 €/month for an advanced developmental disability unit; benefits include sports & culture and wellness allowances, extensive occupational health services and accident insurance, and opportunities for training and career progression.
