Project Description: Resulting from the Cooperation Agreement signed by the Government of Mexico and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the project “Strengthening capacities for Economic Promotion and the Sustainable Development Goals” is designed to assist the Secretaría de Relaciones Exteriores in strengthening its capacities to position Mexico’s interests in the international arena through its economic functions. Actions are undertaken to strengthen Mexico’s economic diplomacy, including attracting investment, trade promotion, liaison with strategic actors, and coordination with Mexican Representations abroad, federal dependencies, state and municipal governments, and business organizations. The Plan for Economic Promotion is implemented through Mexico’s missions abroad and foreign missions to Mexico, participation in international fairs, channeling procurement and investment opportunities, and organizing investment and export seminars. In this international context, the planned actions will bolster the SRE’s capacities to strengthen institutional alliances and support Mexico’s priorities in the international economic arena. Work Scope: 1. Propose and monitor trade promotion strategies within the framework of economic diplomacy and government priorities. 2. Design actions with Mexican Representations Abroad to identify, promote and monitor trade and procurement opportunities in strategic markets. 3. Lead Mexico’s participation in international fairs, sectoral seminars, business meetings, and trade missions aimed at international positioning of priority sectors and business opportunities for Mexican companies. 4. Direct interlocution with federal, state, and municipal authorities, and with business bodies and associations to strengthen promotional projects. 5. Supervise follow-up and linkage actions related to priority projects in foreign trade, value chains and business linkages, coordinating with authorities. 6. Coordinate participation in high-level meetings, official visits, strategic events and institutional mechanisms linked to Mexico’s international promotional agenda. Institutional Agreement: The vacancy reports directly to the Undersecretary for North America and coordination of the project, who will evaluate the contractor’s performance at the contract’s end. Minimum Academic Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Political Science, International Relations, Public Policy or related fields; Master studies are not required but considered. Minimum Experience: 4 years for bachelor’s degree holders in foreign trade, public-private liaison, event management, innovation; 2 years for master’s degree holders. Required Skills: Effective communication (oral and written), negotiation, team and time management, relationship management with institutions. Desired Skills: International economics, private sector development, foreign trade or diplomacy; strategic partnerships; APF or international organizations experience. Required Languages: English advanced. Applicants must be Mexican citizens or have migratory status permitting the function.
