Kerimäen koulu is a combined school for grades 1–9 with about 280 students, located in Savonlinna in the Kerimäki village. The school offers students a nature‑oriented learning environment and services within walking distance. We are seeking a full‑time substitute teacher for mathematics and physics for a fixed-term position from 26.10.2026 to 5.6.2027. The role includes homeroom duties. The successful applicant will support new learning approaches, strong command of functional teaching methods and digital learning environments, and an assessment culture based on the curriculum and diverse demonstrations. Experience with integrating students with special needs into general classes is advantageous. Willingness to develop and implement flexible teaching arrangements and cooperation across subject boundaries in line with basic education OPS goals is required. Qualifications follow the regulations of the decree on competent personnel in education (986/1998) and terms of the Municipal Education Personnel collective agreement (OVTES). A three‑month probation is observed. Before taking the position, a police background check as required by law (504/2002) section 3 must be presented. Responsibilities
- Teach mathematics and physics to grades 7–9 and provide homeroom duties
- Apply new learning supports and functional teaching methods and utilize diverse assessment methods based on the curriculum
- Collaborate with colleagues across subjects to meet OPS goals
- Participate in flexible teaching arrangements and development of collaborative practices across classes and subjects
- Prepare and maintain student records and participate in interviews if required
Requirements
- Master's degree in mathematics and physics or equivalent teaching qualification as per Finnish regulations
- Strong command of new learning support and functional teaching methods
- Proficiency with digital learning environments and evidence-based assessment aligned with the curriculum
- Good teamwork and communication skills
- Willingness to develop flexible teaching arrangements and cross-disciplinary collaboration
- Experience with integrating special needs students into basic education classes is advantageous
