About the role
Lionbridge is seeking self-starting freelance Over-the-Phone Interpreters for ongoing interpretation projects across all languages in industries such as Legal, Healthcare and Government. Over-the-Phone Interpreters for Lionbridge are responsible for handling calls on demand to correctly identify and provide meaning in conversations between speakers of two different languages. The world’s largest and most influential companies rely on Lionbridge to provide two-way interpretation services in over 350 languages. New projects are being added every day to interpret all languages. Accept and take ownership of on-demand incoming calls and conversations Identify the meaning of conversations across two different language types while remaining current, courteous, and professional on sensitive subjects across differing cultures and locations Receive projects typically presented in the form of three-way calls, lasting roughly 10-30 minutes each during regular US business hours Receive training on and use appropriate industry terminology, displaying common industry procedures and practices To Be Successful You Will Have Advanced abilities in two or more languages (spoken) Exceptional memory retention, note-taking, and communication skills in the appropriate language(s) The ability to complete and pass a language assessment in the languages you will be assigned to Prior experience in Interpretation or Language Services is a plus, but not required In Return, You Can Expect Opportunities to partner with an energetic international team of localization and interpretation experts, learning new skills and technologies along the way A remote working environment where you work in spaces best suited for your comfort and productivity Flexible Scheduling: Recommended minimum of 16 hours per week To build your portfolio of completed linguistics and language services projects for world-leading organizations The opportunity to learn new industry skills and competencies to advance your career in linguistics Lionbridge partners with brands to break barriers and build bridges all over the world.
