Social pedagogue

We are seeking a social pedagogue in early childhood education for Alppikylä day care in Helsinki, on a permanent contract. Alppikylä is a medium-sized, two-story day care with about 130 places. The building is divided into four units, each with two groups of children—one for younger and one for older children. Activities are mainly carried out in the own group, but collaboration is possible within a unit or across the whole building. There are groups for 1–3-year-olds and 3–5-year-olds. Three early childhood education professionals work in our groups. We offer a professional and enthusiastic work community with collegial support. The early childhood education unit Alppikylä-Suurmetsä has solid structures for pedagogical development and collaboration, plus pedagogical support teams. This year, themes include supporting literacy readiness through art pedagogy and developing outdoor pedagogy. We have earned excellent results in staff surveys (Fiilari) regarding leadership and goal setting, and our network culture is strong. The role involves planning, evaluating and implementing pedagogical activities and supporting the child’s individual learning in accordance with Helsinki’s early childhood education and pre-primary education plan, the unit’s plan and the child’s needs, together with the team. Qualifications: at least a higher education degree in social and health care with at least 60 credits in early childhood education and social pedagogy, or a social pedagogue degree supplemented with those studies; or equivalence recognised by the Finnish National Board of Education. Excellent spoken and written Finnish is required. A valid criminal background check for work with children is required, and a TB clearance for respiratory tuberculosis for under-6s will be checked.
