About the role

Polestar is accelerating the transition to sustainable mobility through electric performance. Behind that journey sits a powerful digital platform enabling everything from checkout and payments to order management, delivery, retail tools, and customer self‑service. At Polestar Digital, we build innovative, scalable solutions that power our global platform. You will join a focused team working across a critical part of the customer journey, delivering systems that customers globally and hundreds of internal users depend on every day. With real ownership, close collaboration, and global impact, you will play a key role in shaping the future of Polestar’s digital ecosystem. We are now looking for a Senior Software Developer to join our headquarters in Gothenburg, Sweden. As a Senior Software Developer, you will be part of a cross‑functional agile team responsible for designing and building high‑performance, scalable solutions that support Polestar’s global digital platform. You will take ownership of system architecture and technical decision‑making while working closely with Product Managers, Designers, and Operations teams to deliver reliable and impactful solutions. The role combines hands‑on development, system design, and collaboration, while also contributing to a strong engineering culture through mentoring and knowledge‑sharing. You will write clean, well‑tested code and contribute to building systems that are robust, scalable, and maintainable. At the same time, you will stay up to date with modern development practices and emerging technologies, including evolving paradigms such as agentic AI. You will design, build, and evolve scalable digital solutions that power Polestar’s global platform. Your responsibilities include: Designing and implementing high‑performance, globally scalable systems, taking ownership of system architecture, writing clean, maintainable code supported by unit, integration, and automated tests, collaborating closely with Product Managers, Designers, and Operations teams to deliver business value, mentoring team members, and ensuring solutions follow modern engineering practices across quality, performance, and maintainability. In your daily work, you will collaborate closely with cross‑functional agile teams including engineering, product, design, and operations, contributing to a shared understanding of system design, user impact, and business priorities. You are an experienced software developer with a strong engineering foundation and a passion for building scalable, high‑quality systems. You are comfortable taking ownership of technical challenges, making decisions, and collaborating across teams to deliver impactful solutions. You combine strong technical skills with a product mindset, understanding not only how to build solutions but also why they matter. You enjoy sharing knowledge, supporting others, and continuously improving both code and ways of working. To be a great fit for this position, we believe you have: Strong knowledge of programming and software engineering principles, experience designing scalable systems using .NET (C#), AWS, and Node.js (TypeScript), demonstrated ability to write effective unit tests, integration tests, and other automated tests, solid understanding of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and containerization, proficiency with version control systems such as Git and GitHub workflows, 4–8 years of professional software development experience, experience building global, high‑performance, and scalable solutions, experience working in cross‑functional agile teams, strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to process and analyze complex information, fluency in English, both written and spoken. It is considered an advantage if you also have: experience working in the financial domain, interest in emerging technologies, including agentic AI, and how they impact software development. We know that a change is needed. We also know that each one of us can help bring about that change. Our commitment to becoming climate‑neutral by 2040 is just as important to us as being inclusive, diverse, and innovative. Together, we are creating, collaborating, and experimenting to usher in a new era of sustainable mobility. We are an electric performance brand, determined to improve the society we live in. If you are interested in joining the Polestar crew, don’t wait to submit your application. We apply a continuous selection process and the job post will remain open until the position is filled. If this sounds like your next challenge, please submit your resume, portfolio, or GitHub profile along with a brief note about what excites you about joining Polestar. As we move through the Swedish summer holiday season, there may be a slight delay in our process. We look forward to getting back to you in August. Are you ready for the journey? Which is electric, by the way…
