We are seeking a HEAD OF EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION for a permanent position in the education services of the City of Orivesi. The City of Orivesi is looking for a skilled and enthusiastic manager to lead and develop early childhood education. We value good interaction and leadership skills, as well as a holistic and inclusive vision for the development of early childhood education. The selected candidate is expected to have leadership experience, good knowledge of finance and public administration, and an interest in and familiarity with early childhood education pedagogy. The Director of Early Childhood Education serves as the supervisor for the early childhood education result area and is responsible for personnel management, general administration, and pedagogical leadership within their area. Additionally, the duties include the guidance and supervision of private early childhood education. In the future, the duties of the Head of Early Childhood Education may be expanded to include the duties of an early childhood education unit manager if the number of children decreases. The Head of Early Childhood Education is part of the education services management team and works in close cooperation with the directors of early childhood education units, primary school principals, office staff, and the Director of Education. Orivesi is part of the Tampere city region, and the Head of Early Childhood Education also participates in regional working groups. The position of Head of Early Childhood Education is a permanent appointment starting 1.10.2026 (or by agreement). A six-month probationary period will be applied. The eligibility requirement is a suitable university degree. Orivesi is easily accessible by public transport, as it is located right along highway 9. Train connections to both Tampere and Jämsä function well, and the city center is conveniently reachable from the train station via feeder traffic. Original study and work certificates are to be presented during a possible interview. External personnel assessment may be used in the recruitment process. The person selected for the position must present a criminal record extract as required by Act 504/2002 and provide a health certificate from Työterveys Pirte Oy before assuming the duties.
