The administrative unit of the City of Kotka is seeking an expert in archiving and records management for a fixed-term position as Records Management Manager for the period 28.9.2026-3.10.2027. Approximately 25 people work in our unit in various administrative support services and customer service roles. The Records Management Manager leads the city archives, where currently a total of 6 people are employed. However, the scope of the position covers the entire organization of the City of Kotka. We are looking for an archives and records management professional who is also familiar with the world of data protection and information management. As the Records Management Manager, you will be responsible for the records and document management of the City of Kotka and the operations of the city archives. You will also serve as the supervisor for the unit's personnel. Your unit provides guidance, training, and supervision to the city's areas of responsibility regarding archiving, records management, data protection, and information management. You will be responsible for the city's information steering plan and information management model. Additionally, key tasks of the archives include digitization and information services. The local history archive also operates under the city archives. What we expect from you Successful performance of the duties requires good knowledge of the laws governing the field (e.g., the Administrative Act, the Archives Act, data protection legislation, and the Information Management Act). You have good IT, interaction, and problem-solving skills. You can lead the operations of your own unit and collaborate smoothly with the entire city organization. You provide guidance to others with confidence. Eligibility requirement is a suitable higher education degree including or separately completed master's studies in document management and archival science. A higher university of applied sciences degree in information management and electronic archiving, or a higher education degree and a completed higher archival degree from the National Archives of Finland, are also considered suitable. Previous experience in records and document management tasks within the municipal sector and good interaction skills are considered an advantage. Location, remuneration, and start date The Records Management Manager's place of work is located in the city center on Kotka Island, connected to the main library at Kirkkokatu 24. The position follows the general municipal civil service and employment contract (KVTES). The position-specific salary is €4,761.66/month. The work experience supplement (max. 8%) is determined based on work experience. The fixed-term position is for the period 28.9.2026-3.10.2027. A 6-month probationary period applies to the employment relationship. The selected person must provide the employer with an acceptable statement regarding their health status before the selection is confirmed.
