Finance Specialist

As a finance specialist, you are responsible for the municipality's financial planning, monitoring and reporting in close collaboration with the town manager, HR, departments and councilors. Your duties include: preparing and coordinating the budget and financial plan; monitoring, analysing and reporting on finances; participating in and coordinating the preparation of the financial statements; preparing for financial decision-making; monitoring liquidity and loans; drafting various reports and memos; financial monitoring of projects and supporting the project owner in financial matters; statutory municipal data reporting to the State Controller; developing financial administration processes; advising and supporting departments on financial matters; coordinating the municipality's insurances; bookkeeping cash controls and improving operations; invoicing to the home municipality; Meita Oy provides financial administration services for our municipality. Tasks align with the distribution of responsibilities and require knowledge of municipal accounting and related laws, regulations and guidelines. We use Intime, Accuna and Dynasty. The public procurement reform requires actions from the municipality, and planning for future operations has begun. In the planning and implementation phase you can be actively involved in change preparation with your expertise. The role content may be adjusted according to the candidate's skills and experience. We expect: a suitable university degree; experience in financial administration (municipal sector is considered highly advantageous; if your experience comes from the private sector, you must be prepared to immerse yourself in municipal regulations and guidelines); good analytical and reporting skills; ability to manage holistic entities and take initiative; teamwork and clear communication and Finnish language skills; the emphasis of the work is on on-site work. Also valued: interest in public finances and the municipal sector; understanding of state subsidies and taxation system; willingness to develop and digital skills.
