About the role

We are seeking a motivated and skilled Developmental Social Pedagogue for the Jokiuoma unit, Laajavuoren day care, to promote community, child welfare, participation and a safe operating environment. The role emphasises prevention of bullying, supporting children's social and peer skills, and parenting support and development. You will participate in multidisciplinary teamwork and refer families to other child and family services when needed. Key areas include implementing early childhood education, contributing to planning, implementation and evaluation at the unit; wellbeing work and early identification of needs related to social and peer skills, wellbeing, growth and development; interaction and cooperation with families and professional communication within the team; evaluation and development of operational practices from a social-pedagogical perspective and promoting participation and wellbeing in collaboration with staff.

  • Participate in planning, implementing and evaluating unit activities
  • Wellbeing work and early identification and response to needs related to social and peer skills, wellbeing, growth and development
  • Engage with families and cooperation with home and professional communication within the unit
  • Evaluate and develop unit operations from a social-pedagogical perspective; promote participation and wellbeing in collaboration with staff

Requirements

  • Knowledge of the early childhood education plan and the Early Childhood Act
  • Collaboration skills
  • Experience with developing children’s social and peer skills and parenting support
  • Experience with early childhood education methods, wellbeing, growth and development
  • Independent and developmental work style
  • Ability to promote inclusive and equitable practices
  • Strong Finnish written and spoken skills
