About the role

Would you like to help shape daily life where everyone can live in their own way? We are seeking a caregiver (adult care worker) for disability services at Huvikadun service home in Lahti, on a fixed-term contract from 5 Oct 2026 to 31 Dec 2026. The role is primarily a two-shift position. The unit, located in Lahti’s Mukkula area near services, provides around-the-clock enhanced supported housing for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and others in need of special support. The unit houses 28 residents in their own apartments and also offers short-term care and social welfare crisis placements. In the multi-professional team, caregivers and a nurse work around the clock. As a caregiver you are a key part of residents’ everyday lives. Your duties include guiding and assisting with daily living, personal hygiene, meals, leisure activities, and communal living; you will also be partly responsible for medication administration, client documentation, and house-related tasks such as laundry and kitchen duties. You will work in a multi-professional team that values cooperation, sharing expertise, and a shared goal of enabling residents a safe, active, and person-centered life. We value good communication and cooperation skills, and the ability to meet people individually and respectfully. You are proactive, responsible, and committed to developing your own competence. The job requires readiness to perform both guidance and care tasks, and good physical condition supports stability at work. Experience working with people with developmental disabilities, a person-centered approach, and familiarity with alternative communication methods are appreciated. We offer an interesting and varied job, a professional and supportive work community, good opportunities to balance work and life, and we participate in Väestöliito’s Family Friendly Workplace program. We provide occupational health services with a health app, an Epassi Flex benefit, vacation benefits, and team events and recreation days based on tenure. You will be a member of Pähe ry, a employee association that offers diverse leisure activities and member benefits in the region. We require a social- and health-care basic qualification, registration with Suosikki and Terhikki professional registry, a hygienic pass, and protection against infectious diseases as per the Communicable Diseases Act. Pharmacy licenses are an advantage but may be completed at the workplace when the job starts. Our operating language is Finnish, so fluent spoken and written Finnish (at least level B1) is expected. Applications will be reviewed during the application period and the task will be assigned to the suitable person as soon as found. For questions, please contact Jaana, unit supervisor, by phone or email. Welcome to Päijät-Häme!
