Librarian

We are currently seeking a Librarian for Sipoo municipality's library services for a permanent position in the Children and Youth Library Services team. Your duties include planning and implementing activities for children aged 0–8 in Finnish, which practically means leading regular story sessions and rhyme and play sessions, implementing story-improvisation sessions for preschoolers, and running library card mystery visits for first graders. The work allows creativity and you can tailor activities to your style; you may bring additional services for the target group to the library’s service palette. In addition to children's library work, the job includes customer service in a bilingual library. It is shift work with evening and Saturday shifts, with customer service shifts comprising about 40% of the total work time. The main workplace is the main library in Nikkilä, with shifts also in Söderkulla Library. You also participate in other library work; at a smaller library you get to try many tasks. Sipoo Library Services are part of the Helle library consortium. We use Koha library system and Finna online library. There are about 17 library professionals working in two locations, Nikkilä and Söderkulla. In the Children and Youth Librarians team you have 6 capable colleagues with whom you plan, implement and develop services. A six-month probation is applied when filling the position. Salary and terms of employment are determined according to the KVTES agreement; the job-specific pay grade is 2KIR60B1, €2,662.82 per month, with any possible experience allowance under KVTES also paid.
