We are seeking a Lead Instructor for a permanent position at the Kukkumäki Youth Home. Kukkumäki Youth Home is the crisis, reception, and assessment unit of the child welfare services of the Central Finland wellbeing services county. It provides 24-hour care and education for 13-17-year-olds in crisis situations or those in need of rapid assistance. The youth home has two wards and a total of 10 client places. The unit handles the emergency needs of child welfare. The operations are based on a safe daily routine, dialogic interaction, and good teamwork to promote the interests of the child and family. Young people are placed in Kukkumäki Youth Home based on the Child Welfare Act for a wide variety of reasons. Placements are short-term reception and assessment periods during which the situation of the youth and family, as well as the need for further support, are stabilized and assessed. Both the youth and the family are supported in the youth home. The work includes building a safe daily routine for the youth, supporting and strengthening parenthood, supporting school attendance, guiding towards meaningful leisure activities, and supporting the growth and development of the youth. A youth's period in the reception and assessment unit typically lasts a maximum of two months. Kukkumäki Youth Home employs a highly educated multidisciplinary team. In addition to the manager and lead instructor, the staff includes a psychologist, four nurses, six night workers, and nine instructors. As a Lead Instructor, your duties will include a diverse range of both youth home instructor tasks and administrative duties and responsibilities. You will be responsible for the care and education of the youth placed in the unit as part of the team in close cooperation with their families and other stakeholders. You will support the youth in daily challenges and participate in, among other things, the preparation and implementation of care and education plans. You will serve as the team lead for the youth home's second ward, monitoring the ward's client processes and supporting the work of the primary instructors. The position also includes shift planning. Additionally, you will serve as the deputy for the youth home manager. When substituting for the manager, you will act as the immediate supervisor for the youth home employees, be responsible for monitoring the financial implementation and managing client work, and participate in the management team of the child welfare institutional services. The work is primarily three-shift work focused on weekday mornings. We use autonomous shift planning, and shifts are planned in cooperation with the work community. When substituting for the youth home manager, you will work during office hours. The operating model of Kukkumäki Youth Home is unique nationwide and responds to the most acute child welfare situations in Central Finland. The most demanding arrival situations are directed to the unit, and the work community has built strong expertise and an operational approach specifically for this type of work. In addition to the position-specific salary, we pay a work experience supplement of 3% for 5 years and 8% for 10 years. The accumulation of vacation days is determined by your work experience - the more experience, the more earned vacation days. ***************** The eligibility requirement for the position is a suitable higher education degree in the social or health field. The applicant must have a Valvira registration for professional practice. The position requires experience and strong expertise in child welfare institutional work as well as knowledge of the Child Welfare Act. We expect good cooperation and interaction skills, the ability to handle pressure in rapidly changing situations, and prioritization skills. The position also requires good IT skills as well as the courage and ability to act in a supervisory role occasionally. In addition to these qualities, we are looking for an innovative, positive, and adaptable client work expert for our work community. The terms of employment are determined in accordance with the social and health care employment and official contract (SOTE agreement). The employment relationship is subject to a probationary period. We require a hygiene passport, and a driver's license is essential for the position. We require suitability according to Section 48 of the Communicable Diseases Act (chickenpox and measles). The person selected for the position must present a criminal record extract in accordance with Section 6 of the Criminal Records Act (working with children).
