Technical Documentation Engineer

We are looking to strengthen our expert organisation and are seeking a Technical Documentation Engineer for a permanent position in an expert group serving some of the world’s leading machinery and equipment manufacturers. Work takes place onsite and remotely according to our needs. The duties require regular attendance at the customer’s premises in Loimaa and at Etteplan’s premises in Turku. Your duties include producing content for our customer’s operating and maintenance instructions or spare-parts catalogues. You will work as a documentation specialist, familiarising yourself with the operation of the customer’s products and technical solutions. You will produce guidance content supporting the lifecycle of equipment and information systems for different target groups, such as end users and the maintenance organisation. You will work independently while collaborating closely with our customers and our own personnel. We particularly value initiative, organisation and a positive, customer-oriented attitude. Key success factors include the ability to understand technical subject matter and help readers understand it, as well as the ability to produce high-quality, clear and well-structured content in Finnish and English. You may be the person we are looking for if you have suitable technical education and preferably experience in technical documentation. Genuine motivation for technical documentation work and a good service attitude are important. Experience with desktop-publishing software such as FrameMaker, structured documentation, using AI to produce technical content, content management systems and diverse image-editing skills are considered advantages. Our technical documentation units collaborate across national borders, so we require applicants to have excellent written and spoken Finnish and English. Job rotation is part of everyday life here, so you will have the opportunity to take part in a variety of projects based on your interests and expertise. What we expect from you • Suitable technical education, for example an engineering degree or Master of Science in Technology • At least 2+ years of work experience in a similar role • Strong written and spoken Finnish and English • Experience in instruction documentation work • Good collaboration and communication skills and a forward-looking attitude • Ability to assess workloads, schedules and costs, and to communicate with specialists from different engineering disciplines • An aptitude for work requiring organisation and care • Confident use of information systems and the ability to learn new software quickly Considered an advantage • Practical experience in machinery, vehicle or automation technology • Experience with structured documentation or software for structured documentation • Knowledge of XML and the DITA standard • Experience using AI as part of producing technical content What we offer you At Etteplan, you will have the opportunity to develop your expertise and carry out interesting customer projects across different industrial sectors.
